Guam (The Territory of Guam) is located in the western Pacific Ocean, the southernmost part of the Mariana Islands, with a total area of 549 square kilometers, slightly larger than Zhoushan Island, the fourth largest island in China. It is the “informal territory” of the United States. has a population of 178,000, a native Chamorros, the capital of Uganda. It is adjacent to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, 9,800 kilometers east of the United States and 3,010 kilometers west of China (Mainland).
Guam was successively occupied by Spain, Japan, and the United States. It is now an overseas territory of the United States and a non-constitutional controlled territory of the United States. The indigenous people were Chamorros who settled there about 3,500 years ago. The US military base covers about a third of the island’s area.
