This attack impacted over 230,000 computers in 150 nations and caused approximately $4 billion in damages. The WannaCry attack used a vulnerability in the Windows os to secure files on victims’ computers and forms of ransomware demanded a ransom of $300 in Bitcoin to decrypt them. Since it targeted health centers and other vital infrastructure, this attack was particularly damaging.
